Musical Moments - The Onyx Clarinet Quartet - Reading Room

Musical Moments - The Onyx Clarinet Quartet - Reading Room In-Person

Based jointly in Syracuse and Rochester, Onyx is the musical partnership of Laurie Dobmeier, Terryann Gerber, and Alan Woy on B-flat soprano clarinet, and Roxanne Woy on bass clarinet.  Laurie, Terryann, Alan, and Roxanne are all veteran music educators who have been connected with each other personally and professionally in a number of different ways for many years.

The Onyx Clarinet Quartet was launched in 2010.  Since then the group has developed an eclectic repertoire that ranges from classical to popular music, which they have been pleased to share with audiences throughout New York.  Alan is retired from the Crane School of Music, SUNY Potsdam, and currently teaches at the Eastman Community Music School and in the New Horizons program. Laurie and Terryann currently teach in the Baldwinsville School District.   Roxanne formerly taught music in the Norwood-Norfolk School District and at St. Lawrence University.  Additionally all four have performed professionally and taught private clarinet lessons for many years.

Musical Moments is possible thanks to the sustaining financial gifts from Jane Crumlish and the efforts of volunteers.  For information on how to volunteer for and support Geneva Public Library services, visit www.genevapubliclibrary.net/foundation-for-geneva.
