Musical Moments

Musical Moments In-Person

The Musical Moments recital series at the Geneva Public Library will start a new season on Friday, September 5, 2025 starting at 7:30 p.m. in the library's Reading Room.  The concert will last approximately an hour and is free and open to the public.

This concert will feature classical guitarist Eric J Roth.  Mr. Roth will perform a concert of classical guitar music on a beautiful, authentic reproduction instrument modeled after one built in 1830. Eric will also provide information about the instrument, repertoire, composers, and history.

Eric's program will feature guitar music from the 18th through the 21st centuries from Europe and the Americas, including from Spanish classical and romantic composers Fernando Sor and Fransisco Tarrega, Paraguay composer Agustin Barrios Mangore, a baroque lute suite of German composer, Ernst Gottlieb Baron, as well as compositions from romantic Viennese composer, Johann Kasapar Mertz from Vienna and late romantic English composer, Ernest Shand. Eric will also perform one of his own compositions.

Eric Roth specializes in historical instruments and repertoire. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Music Performance from SUNY New Paltz and has received lessons or master classes from several acclaimed guitarists, including Nicholas Goluses, Gohar Vardanyan, Michael Newman & Laura Oltman, David Starobin, and Patrick O’Brien. Eric frequently performs at public and private venues throughout New York's Hudson Valley region and beyond. Eric serves as a board member of the Mid-Hudson Classical Guitar Society and as president of the Poné Ensemble for New Music. More information about Eric’s musical work, including videos, background, and information about upcoming performances, can be found on his website: www.ericjrothmusic.com. Musical Moments is long running, beloved concert series by local artists during the spring and fall. The Library is grateful to volunteer Tom McClure, who works hard to organize these events each year.

Musical Moments is possible thanks to sustaining financial gifts from Jane Crumlish, the Foundation for Geneva Public Library, and the efforts of volunteers. To find out more about volunteering, please visit here.
